Shannon Hill's Bio

Shannon Hill, a self-taught glass artist, has been lamp working since 1996.  His interest was piqued at a young age by carnival lamp workers magically bringing glass animals to life. He found himself captured by the red-hot molten glass and the hissing flame.

Later, while working construction, Shannon brought a welding torch home that became part of his first glass station on his back patio. He began learning about the glass by using basic glass tools, along with a few tricks provided by local glass artist friends.  Shannon spent countless hours behind his torch building and refining his skills.

His dream of becoming a full-time glass artist became The Shannon Hill Glass Studio.  The state-of-the-art flame working studio and glass school is located in Boca Raton, Florida.  Shannon uses his variation of the inside-out technique to create beautiful glass beads, animals, vessels, marbles and more.  A unique line of stemware, perfume bottles, and solid sculptures, are also included in Shannon's portfolio, along with various custom art commissions.  Shannon’s beads have been described as “eye-candy.”  These fine art beads are sought after by jewelry designers and art lovers nationwide and can be found in various retail stores throughout the country.

By popular demand and personal passion, the artist released his video Making Inside-Out Beads with Shannon Hill in 2004.

“To me, glass is the most amazing substance in the world.  Look around you. Everywhere you look you are either looking at, through, or utilizing some form glass.  We are surrounded by it and the technological advances brought to modern day science and medicine through glass. The history of glass is as extensive as it is colorful.”
